How We Pursue God

The Scriptures are God’s revelation of Himself and His work to His people and the world. They are inspired by God and inerrant in their original language. The Scriptures are both transformational and informative as well as profitable for all areas of conduct in the church and in the Christian life.

Prayer is foundational to the spiritual life: the life of the church, the family, and the individual. The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, the early church prayed night and day, and we are commanded to pray without ceasing. Prayer is a reflection of our humility and dependence upon the Almighty.

Communion is a reminder of the covenant that Christ established and sealed with His blood on the cross. It is to be taken in covenantal unity with one another, the church until the Lord returns in glory.

Teaching is a part of the disciple-making process and is both instructional and observational. The early church devoted themselves to the teaching of the Apostles which are preserved for us in the Scriptures. Paul also encouraged Timothy to pay special attention to the public reading of Scripture, exhortation, and teaching.

Fellowship is a mutual participation, subjection, and union with one another in Christ. We are called out of darkness and into light, out of the world and into the kingdom of God. The kingdom of light cannot have fellowship with the kingdom of darkness. Christ’s church is a family of believers who devote themselves to one another in loving sacrificial relational service.
